Trama
Het A-woord gaat over een jong gezin waarvan de 6 jarige Sam autisme heeft. We zien hoe moeder Mariël en vader Teun proberen om te gaan met het feit dat Sam anders is dan anderen. Sam is eigenlijk gewoon een bijzonder kind voor ze. Totdat het woord ‘autisme’ valt. De rest van de familie denkt daar namelijk al langer aan. Wanneer de diagnose inderdaad autisme blijkt, slaat dat toch wel in als een bom. In het gezin en familie doen Mariël en Teun er alles aan om het beruchte A-woord te vermijden. En ook al doen ze nog zo hun best om Sam te beschermen voor alles, komen ze er al snel achter dat het leven niet altijd maakbaar is
