ストーリー
Recount the life of the groundbreaking actress and singer whose talent and beauty challenged the racial barriers of mid‑20th‑century entertainment. The episode traces Dandridge’s beginnings as part of the Dandridge Sisters, performing in clubs across the country, including Harlem’s Cotton Club, where she first gained attention. It follows her transition to film, highlighting both her breakthrough in Carmen Jones and the discrimination she faced in Hollywood and Las Vegas, where she was celebrated onstage but restricted off it. Biography explores the personal hardships that shaped her journey—childhood trauma, a troubled marriage, and the emotional strain of caring for her disabled daughter. Through interviews, archival footage, and expert commentary, the program paints a poignant portrait of a pioneering artist whose brilliance was matched by the obstacles she fought to overcome.
