Is this a parody ? Surely Dawn Fraser and June Daley Watkins could have helped. In the unlikely circumstance that the family couldn't get butter they certainly would not have used dripping as a substitute. They are cooking tripe because they couldn't get meat. Really. Where did the dripping come from ? The tea making was a bit sad.Even the modern mother could work out how to use a tea strainer when pouring the tea, not when making it. I would be very surprised if any father came home and had dinner by himself. The practice at the time was to wait until he came home ! Few would want to go back to the 50s, but mocking the people and their practices comes badly from people whose main preoccupation seems to be polluting the world around them, and who would be flat out looking after themselves in similar circumstances without looking for handouts. Finally see how far you would get cycling to work wearing a trilby and no bicycle clips!
